Every year on Black Monday, the first Monday after the regular season ends, there is a surge of head coaches and front office executives who are laid off as teams that have had a disappointing season begin to change leadership within the organization
Two coaches were sacked the day after the season ended last year. Anthony Lynn was fired from the Chargers and Doug Marrone was fired from the Jaguars.
After Urban Meyer was fired, Darrell Bevell took over as head coach for the Jaguars and Rich Bisaccia took over as head coach for the Raiders after Jon Gruden resigned.
Some more teams will almost certainly be looking for new coaches for the 2022 season. On "Black Monday", Sporting News follows which teams are making coach changes.
The Miami Dolphins announced Monday that they had sacked head coach Brian Flores.
Flores missed the playoffs in all three seasons he coached the Dolphins and set a 24-25 record.
"I decided to split up with Brian Flores today," said Stephen Ross, owner of Dolphins, in a statement. "After evaluating where we stand as an organization and what we need to improve in the future, I found that the key dynamics of our football organization were not working at the level I wanted and I felt that this decision was in the best interest . " the Miami Dolphins.
"I think we have a talented young squad and the opportunity to be a lot better in 2022. I want to thank Brian for all his hard work and wish him all the best for the future."
